Renewal Requirements for Licensed Massage Therapists in the State of New Jersey:

You must take 20 hours of Continuing Education classes every 2 years, including 2 hours of Ethics; 1 hour of business law. Of the 20 hours, up to 6 hours  may be taken online. 

CE classes in NJ must be completed by November 30, 2026.

Course Description:

Content: NJ Massage Law: Fulfills NJ Division of Consumer Affairs Requirement for NJ Laws and Rules. This course specifically applies to the practice of massage and bodywork therapy (New Jersey), N.J. Admin. Code Tit. 13, ch. 37A – NEW JERSEY BOARD OF MASSAGE AND BODYWORK THERAPY RULES

Purpose: This course contains the laws and regulations so individuals can adhere to the state of New Jersey’s Chapter 37A law. It is intended for licensed massage therapists and its purpose is to be a way to learn and remind them of how Chapter 37A applies to their profession.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, attendees should be able to 

1. Explain the NJ requirements for licensure/relicensure
2. Know where to find details about NJ licensing rules and requirements
3. Identify what actions are included in a Licensed Massage Therapists Scope of Practice in NJ and their employers.
